From March 16 through May 14 there is an increased risk of wildfires in New York. Follow these quick tips to stay safe this spring, and throughout the year!

  1. Closely supervise all outdoor fires

Make sure the fire is out before leaving.

  2. Supervise children at all times

Including around campfires, fire pits, chimneas, and outdoor fireplaces.

  3. Avoid burning on windy, dry days

When conditions are windy or dry, it is easy for open burning to spread out of control.

  4. Never use gasoline or other flammable or combustible liquids

  5. Be prepared

Have a hose, bucket of water, or shovel and dirt or sand nearby to extinguish the fire.
